Personal Collection | 2016
“My mum is not suffering at all,
she is just struggling to be a part of things.
She still connecting to who she was.
She is happy with each moment in a day.
Living in every moment is the best part of her life.
I am glad to be a part of her life in every single day. and that is a moment,
The moment that
we have new memories together.”
Since 2013, the “Lost or Forgotten” and the “7 days a week with assoc prof. Wipha” project was created in order to document her life and memories and find the way to communicate with her through the collection of wearable pieces.
Assoc Prof. Wipha Kulpapangkorn was a professsional professor in one of
Thai university. She worked there for almost 30 years, but one day, Everyone in her University noticed that her personal behavior waschanged. It eas because of the Frontotemporal Dementia Syndrome (FTD : The right and left frontal lobes at the front of the brain are involved in mood, social behaviour, attention, judgement, planning and self-control. Damage can lead to reduced intellectual abilities and changes in personality, emotion and behaviour.) She was not able to work and communicate with people as good as she was. In the end of 2013, She had early retired from her work and stayed at home with her son. That’s me.
For almost 3 years that I have looked after my mum closely at home. My perception of life has been changed.I started to live with it as normal and found the way to communicate as well as treated myself from the lost communication with her.
A “Personal Collection” project (the Final part) was started after a sense of awareness, a sense of understanding, a sense of communication and body-control of my mum getting worse. It was because of her temporal lubes were damaged. the “Personal Collection” project will focus on the connection between a lost memory and a new created memory. By interactive activities using my mum’s personal stuff with create and re-design a new communication among us.
Every single day, she is still happy with all moments. Everytime we talk and stay together we have found a new connection that makes us remarkable new memories through the a story of our personal collection.
